Recovery Time Is Essential
Liposuction isn’t the most invasive surgical procedure out there. Nevertheless, it’s a form of surgery. That means that some recovery time will be necessary after the procedure. The good news is your downtime will be far less than if you’d had a tummy tuck. Also, as your surgeon will have carried out the procedure under a local anesthetic, the recovery period will be easier.
What Does A Stomach Lipo Involve?
When you have stomach lipo, the surgeon injects a tumescent solution beneath the skin of the stomach. This will limit the bleeding while preparing the fatty tissues. He or she will then make a tiny incision in an inconspicuous location. The fat will become liquefied and break up before the surgeon removes it via a cannula (or thin tube). After the surgery, you will have some bruising and some pain. That means you probably won’t feel like getting busy in the bedroom immediately! In fact, you may need to take some prescribed pain medications to relieve the discomfort. These may make you feel sleepy rather than sexy!
How Long Will It Take to See My New Body?
For a few weeks, you’ll have some swelling in the stomach area. It could take over a month for this swelling to subside and your new physique to become noticeable. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait that long to return to normal activities. As soon as you’re feeling better, you can go back to work and start going about your everyday life.
What About Sex?
Essentially, it’s up to you when you feel ready to have sex following your procedure. Lipo on some areas, such as the chin or upper arms, won’t curtail your sex life too much. But removing fat from the stomach will leave you feeling tender, which could make sexual activity painful. It’s, therefore, best to wait for at least a week before having sex. For some people, 10 days to two weeks is appropriate before they feel ready for action. You shouldn’t rush into anything that could compromise your healing process or the outcome.
Follow Your Surgeon’s Advice
Your surgeon will give you clear instructions to follow after your lipo surgery. You must follow those instructions carefully. If you adhere to your surgeon’s advice, are healing well, and feel comfortable, you can try to have sex. Be gentle, though, and try to avoid any pressure on healing areas. Essentially, your body will tell you if it’s too soon to have intercourse.
