More women than ever before are now opting to have a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) in Florida. This gluteal augmentation procedure involves using the patient’s own body fat to shape and augment her buttocks. First, liposuction removes fat from the thighs, hips or stomach. Then, it transfers the fat to the buttocks. Following this, a surgeon may carry out extra lipo around the buttocks. This will improve the contour and lift for a more youthful, perky look and a sexier profile.
If you’re planning a BBL, you probably want to know what the recovery process will be like. Here, we give you our expert advice so you can be well-prepared.
Your Early Recovery
Just after you’ve had your procedure, you’ll have swelling and bruising around the liposuction site. Although this may be painful, your surgeon will prescribe medication to manage it. All patients recover at their own rates. However, most will be up and about within a day of their procedure. Sometimes, excess fluid drains from the incisions. This fluid may be blood-tinged. This is nothing to worry about and it will stop after a couple of days.
Wearing Your Compression Garment
You’ll receive a compression garment that you’ll need to wear after your surgery. This will treat the area where the surgeon performed the lipo. Your surgeon will recommend a length of time to wear this garment. It could be as long as eight weeks in order to make sure the area heals properly. The compression garment will minimize swelling, help with skin retraction, and decrease discomfort.
Sitting Down
A key element in your recovery is to avoid sitting on your buttocks directly. You must avoid this for a minimum of eight weeks after your procedure. You should also avoid sleeping on your back. Try sleeping on your side or stomach instead. You may find an inflatable or donut pillow helpful. If you put a cushion behind your legs, this will help to avoid putting undue pressure on your fat graft. If you sit on your buttocks, it will affect the blood circulation to the area. This could end up destroying the fat cells that the surgeon transferred to the buttocks. Even after eight weeks, you should still sit on a pillow and avoid sitting for excessive periods.
Resuming Your Normal Activities
Immediately after your Brazilian butt lift, you should avoid any high impact activity. You should especially avoid any bouncing. After around four weeks, you can resume light activities, such as walking. If you are healing well, you can usually go back to normal activities six to eight weeks after the procedure. Once the transferred fat cells are stable, you can resume vigorous activities, such as running or jogging. By then, the cells should be able to cope with the additional impact of exercises designed for fat-burning. Above all, adhere to the instructions given to you by your Artlipo surgeon for after your procedure. This will ensure your result stays looking good for years to come and that you remain happy with the outcome.
