Are Liposculpture and HD Liposuction the Same Thing?

You may have heard the terms “liposculpture” and “HD liposuction,” but are they the same thing? The world of cosmetic surgery can be confusing, and there are many different terms to learn. It isn’t surprising, then, that many prospective patients aren’t sure which kind of procedure to ask for. If you’re wondering which of these two options to request, you don’t need to worry any longer. The two terms mean the same thing. However, that doesn’t mean that every surgeon offering these procedures achieves the same results. Surgeons’ outcomes vary from surgeon to surgeon. Therefore, you need to have a clear understanding of what to expect before arranging a consultation.

What Do These Terms Mean?

The clue to the meaning of the term “liposculpture” lies in its name. “Lipo” means fat, while “sculpture” is self-explanatory! Essentially, it is a treatment that sculpts the fat to create a more beautiful and slim physique.

Is HD Liposuction the Same as Regular Liposuction?

There is some confusion about whether HD (or high definition) liposuction is the same thing as regular liposuction. The term “HD liposuction” is another way of referring to liposculpture. Although both procedures are similar, they are not exactly the same.

Standard liposuction primarily debulks fat from the body. The surgeon focuses mainly on removing excess fat from the body part they’re treating. The result is a slimmer contour, although not necessarily a sculpted one. HD liposuction, meanwhile, focuses on sculpting the body’s contours to achieve a more attractive result. A skilled surgeon can produce far more impressive results from HD lipo as it creates beautiful contours.

Do All Surgeons Offer HD Liposculpture?

Not all surgeons are able to offer HD liposculpture to their patients. Some surgeons only offer regular liposuction. There are others who do offer HD lipo; however, the results they produce can vary wildly. Some surgeons produce far more complete outcomes than others.

Most surgeons who do offer HD lipo procedures will only treat certain areas of the body.

Typically, they will only treat the abdomen. Other surgeons offer something they call HD lipo, but in fact, it isn’t the same thing at all. In those cases, it’s a procedure to create an artificial six-pack appearance through fat injections and etching. That is a very different type of surgery and produces very different outcomes. The most complete form of liposculpture is UCHD lipo or Ultra Complete High-Definition Liposuction.

What is UCHD Lipo?

UCHD liposuction gets its name because of the amount of fat this surgery removes. With standard liposuction, surgeons only remove around 50% at most of the excess fat. With UCHD, the surgeon will remove as much as 90% of the fat. It is, therefore, Ultra Complete.

UCHD lipo is an extremely comprehensive and highly effective fat removal surgery. Only a skilled and experienced surgeon is able to carry it out. The surgeon carries out the procedure under a local anesthetic so the patient is awake and alert. They need to participate in their own surgery, moving and tensing their muscles as instructed. They must also get up so that the surgeon can see the result they are achieving. When the patient tenses their muscles, the surgeon can sculpt the fat closely to the muscle. That allows them to remove the maximum amount of fat. They can then sculpt the area they are treating to produce the most attractive contour and shape.

A talented surgeon can treat most areas of the body with UCHD lipo. For example, they can treat the abdomen, chest, chin and neck, legs, arms, and back, as well as other areas of the body.

One of the great benefits of UCHD lipo is that it offers skin tightening benefits as well as fat removal. Many patients worry that their skin will sag and be loose after liposuction. Many surgeons, too, have concerns about sagging skin post-procedure. For this reason, they tend to take a conservative approach and only remove the minimum amount of fat. However, a skilled surgeon can extract the maximum amount of fat and still avoid loose skin. The patient can therefore benefit from slimmer contours and tight, taut skin.

Where Can I Get UCHD Liposculpture?

At the present time, only Dr. Su at ArtLipo offers UCHD liposculpture treatments. Other surgeons don’t offer this procedure because it goes against their traditional training. Surgeons learn that they cannot remove large amounts of fat as the patient will develop loose skin. But Dr. Su has proven that this is not the case. He achieves very impressive fat removal and skin tightening results for his patients. You can see his excellent outcomes if you take a look at our before and after gallery.
